Visa
Cambodian Visa Information
If you fly or drive to Cambodia you will get a visa upon arrival for 1000 Baht or $20 usd (cheaper). Since March 5, 2000 you can get the Cambodia visa at the Koh Kong / Hat Lek border crossing. Bring one photo with you and fill out the forms. NOTE: Many problems with Cambodian officials extorting money (100 to 150 baht) from many tourists. The new scam is the "Sticker Visa". They want 1100 baht for it while the real price is $20 usd or 1000 baht. Use the cards below to show if you have problems and make a complaint if you have too. Formal complaints made in Phnom Penh are the best way to do it and will cause a problem for the head visa official in Koh Kong. Ministry of Tourism cares more about this problem than the head immigration office in PP.
Car & Motorbike Parking
Storage at the border
You can drive to the Koh Kong / Hat Lek border and store your car for 40 Baht per day or 20 Baht per day for motor cycle. Next to the Thai immagration is a grocery store and next to that is a small road lined with gift shops and restaurants. About 50 feet down look to the right and you will see a fenced in area with cars and motorbikes.

How To Guide With Photos
Click this link for the best guide on how to get from Bangkok Thailand to Sihanoukville Cambodia and onward to Vietnam. We did it ourselves and took pictures all the way. (Updated every few months)
Overland from Phnom Penh
The road is now open but is gravel and 3 ferry crosings are required. It takes 6 to 12 hours depending on weather. Taxi fare is 400 Baht or 800 Baht if you want the whole seat. They will fit 4 people in the back seat so you might want to pay double.
By Sea From Sihanoukville
The speed boat leaves from Sihanoukville at 12:00 pm (afternoon), the fare is ~550 Baht (300/400 for locals) and takes about 3-1/2 to 4 hours. From Koh Kong they leave for Sihanoukville at 8:00 am. Their small office is at the pier. Look for their sign. There is also a boat from/to Sre Ambel. Cheaper and faster if you are coming from or going to Phnom Penh. Departure times: Sre Ambel to Koh Kong at 11:00 am and Koh Kong to Sre Ambel at 7:15am. Fare is 500 Baht. 3 1/2 to 4 hours. There is also a cheaper small speedboat at 7 am. They will stuff 40 people on it. It is faster but much bumpier. Shared taxi for road portion is 8000 Riel ($2 usd or $4 for the whole front seat). NOTE: tickets now come in two colors, one for locals and one for tourists. If you get a local to buy one for you make sure it is a tourist ticket with the higher fare written on it. Some reports from tourists warned of having their tickets ripped up and being forced to buy the right one. Cambodia needs to do something about the way tourists are being treated ! WARNING !!! On the Sihanoukville to Koh Kong speedboat you will make a stop at Bah Klong Island. Locals will get off and on and you might have your passport checked. Make sure you get back on the boat to Koh Kong. DO NOT listen to the touts that want to give you a short cut ride to the Thai border. You will be placed on small boats with old equipment on open ocean. It is not safe ! Stay on the speed boat and get off in Koh Kong. From there the boat to get to the Thai border will cross a river, not open ocean.
Transportation
Motorcycle Taxi
Local transportation is mostly by motorcycle taxi. They are cheap at 500 Riel or 5 Baht per ride. Remember the town is so small it's easy to walk anywhere.
English Guides
Be Carefull !!!
A dishonest English guide will expect (and get) a commission at every place you buy something at which means the price will be higher for you. Try to find an honest one and tell him/her not to expect commissions. Hire an honest English student from one of the many schools or use any guide but always keep an eye on them.
Special Note: Otto's Restaurant & Tourist Meeting Place is the best place for tourists to learn about local tour and price information. Make Otto's your first stop to meet other tourists and expats.
E-mail & Internet
Only one in town
E-mail service is now available at Otto's Rest & Meeting Place. There is no internet service yet.
Banking & Exchange Rates
Two banks but both are closed. Travelers checks can NOT be cashed in Koh Kong. But the Koh Kong International Resort has been known to give cash advances on credit cards (on and off).
